I’m not sure whether we should classify the event as gymnastics, this site dance, or mass political spectacle, but it certainly has elements of all 3.
Intended as a display of youth, unity and national strength, the performance of the Mass Games is the only event foreign journalists are allowed to attend in North Korea, usually escorted in from China by minders.
