Interview: South African Corrective Rape Activists

Last month a tiny group of lesbian activists posted a petition from a safehouse in a township of Cape Town, South Africa calling on the Ministry of Justice to declare ‘corrective rape’ a hate crime. Their petition has since become the most popular Change.org petition of all time. Ndumie Funda, the one-woman leader of the group, says she is overwhelmed by the campaign’s success.
